Now is the time to surrender yourself to the wind!

"It was love at first sight for me. It was a discovery that made me feel so free, so happy, so calm, so excited and so myself."

Bilge Öztürk and KiteMercedes

Bilge Öztürk, the founder of our school and a national athlete, met kiteboarding in 2007. In her own words, the moment she saw "colorful giant butterflies in the air", she fell in love with this sport and her life started to change.

Her kiteboarding adventure started in Hawaii in 2007 and continues today with KiteMercedes in Akyaka. In 2011, she became a national athlete and proceeded to found our school in 2016.

As she said in the She's Mercedes interview, "Ever since I was a kid, I I have always wanted to be a lawyer when I grow up. It never occurred to me that there could be a job and a way of life which would feel more natural and truer to myself. Until...

The colorful butterflies that suddenly came into my life at the beginning of my journey have thus led me to the world star.

In 2011, when she made podium in her first Turkish Championship, the World Championship followed and her life as a national athlete began. 2014 marks the beginning of her collaboration with Mercedes-Benz, one of the best brands in the world, an avid supporter of sports and arts which decided to support kiteboarding with its great vision. Following 2 years of collaboration on digital platforms and social media, with the brand’s support to open a kiteboarding school, KiteMercedes by Bilge Öztürk kiteboarding school has come to life in 2016.

"One of my greatest pride and happiness in life is that my name is cited side by side with one of the best brands in the world. Just seeing this name on our kites, on our beach apparel, on our boards as we enter the school every day brings a big smile to my face."

With kiteboarding, now an Olympic sport on its way to the 2024 Paris Olympics, the International Olympic Committee has started to add the kiteboarding formula class to all Olympic races which may accommodate the conditions. The first competition in history to include the kiteboarding formula class took place in Qatar in October 2019 under the name ANOC World Beach Games. Bilge Öztürk became the first female kiteboarder to represent our country in this historic competition, where only the top 20 qualified male and female athletes in the world were able to participate per the invitation of the Olympic Committee. While still practicing at our school, we have already rolled up our sleeves to prepare the young generation for this prestigious path.

Bilge Öztürk: "To have achieved all this under the Mercedes-Benz star and to be cited with this visionary brand is priceless. The colorful butterflies that came into my life at the beginning of my journey have led me to the world star. I hope to travel together for many more years..."
